Congrats on getting a new Propeller Health sensor! Let's go through the setup process. This device has a lot of useful features we want you to know about.
To get started, press the button on the side. We'll call this the side button from now on. After you do that, press the connect button here and choose the Propeller device that pops up. The number should correspond to the number on the sticker of the sensor. ->
Yay! We found it! This is your sensor.
Let's attach your sensor to your medication. You have options to choose from. There is a strap that can go around inhalers. Put the strap on the inhaler and pull it tight, then put the sensor on top and twist it clockwise 1/4 turn to get it to lock in place and hold the strap securely. You can tuck the extra strap in the band, or cut it with scissors.
Another option is the adhesive plate, which looks like a clear bandaid. Peel off the adhesive backing and stick it on your device. If it's too big, use scissors to cut the plate so that it fits. If it's a curved surface, pre-bend the plastic before attaching. The adhesive is washable with water and soap, but make sure it's dry before using it again.
You may have a different special attachment mechanism depending on your medication, which will have different instructions.
Now that your sensor is attached to your medication, let's learn how it senses. First, we'll show off the easy part, the big button on top. Go ahead and press it now.
This is one way we can record that you took your medication. Just press the button. The green light on the side blinks to confirm that a dose was registered.
Another way is to measure movement. If your medication stays in the cabinet all day except when you are taking a dose, we can set it up to measure just the action of picking it up. Would you like to do that?
The third way is to measure sound using a built-in microphone. This is tricky and sometimes doesn't work depending on where the sensor is installed and what kind of noises are being made, but it does allow us to measure more details about the medication, such as inhalation duration, peak flow, volume, and others. Would you like to set that up?
Now that you're set up with your sensor and medication, and you know how to record doses, let's do some of the more fun configuring.
There's a buzzer on the sensor that can remind you up to four different times a day when it's time to take your dose. Do you want to schedule regular reminders?
How about a custom reminder tone?
Recent dose reminders let you know if you've recently taken a dose. If you press the aux button once and it beeps once then you haven't taken your dose in a while. If it beeps three times quickly, it means you recently took a dose. The default definition of "a while" is 3 hours. Would you like to change that?
Finally, your sensor is equiped with a feature we call "Find My Inhaler." If you can't find your inhaler but you're within bluetooth range, we can tell it to make noise so you can find it more easily.
That's the most important stuff about your sensor. If you want, we can walk through your medication technique as well. Get instruction and feedback on how to use your medication. Would you like to do that now?
